Worcester, Massachusetts, and a local society named in the title frame this glass negative, the sixth in a numbered series credited to Peter F. Sullivan, though the record marks that title as unverified. The date of about 1923 is an estimate drawn from neighboring negatives in the same range, so it should be read as approximate. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., commercial firm active in the early twentieth century, produced many such plates documenting cities and events across the country. Viewers will notice streaks and blemishes on the glass, which stem from natural deterioration of the original coating.
