A Maine summer camp

Green Tech Innovators

Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Future

A camper-facing elective — built for the camp’s elective model, delivered live and remote. Campers find a real environmental problem, design a green-tech solution, build a prototype, and pitch it.

How it runs

One room, one screen, a few laptops

The camp supplies a room with laptops, a screen, and one counselor. Delivery is remote on purpose — it’s how one program reaches many camps over the internet.

In the room

🖥
Presentation screenLive video feed from the instructor

Camper laptops / tabletsShared is fine — about one per two or three campers
📶

Who does what

🏫
Instructor (remote, live)Teaches, runs activities, reviews work, hosts the pitch showcase
📋
Counselor (in room)Hands out devices, keeps the room on task — follows a one-page run sheet

The curriculum

Problem → Solution → Business → Pitch

One weekly elective block builds the same project across the session.

🔍
Week 1

Problem Hunters

Spot real environmental problems — including ones around the Maine lakes.

💡
Week 2

Solution Architects

Design a green-tech fix and build a simple prototype or app mockup.

📈
Week 3

Business Builders

A one-page business plan: costs, customers, and how it could work.

🏆
Week 4

Future Founders

Pitch the venture at a camper showcase — every camper presents.

See the four courses, fully designed → Each age level’s course in full — objectives, tools, and the week-by-week plan for Olim, Tsofim, Bogrim, and Chalutzim/CIT.

Four courses

Four courses, one per age group

Each age group is its own 4-week course — same proven arc, but its own objectives, tools, and depth. They meet separately.

Course (unit)GradesWhat this course is
Olim2–5“Green Inventors” — playful and hands-on. Spot a problem, sketch an invention, present in pairs. Light on screens.
Tsofim6–7Full arc, introductory level. Simple no-code tools (Canva, MIT App Inventor, block coding). Team projects.
Bogrim8–9Full arc with real prototyping, basic financials, and a structured pitch.
Chalutzim / CIT10–11Deepest version — business model canvas, market validation, funding landscape, and portfolio basics. Great for leadership-track campers.

The fit

Why it fits the camp

☰

Built for the elective board

Once-weekly blocks that rotate naturally inside the program campers already choose from.

🌱

Adds a STEM dimension

Complements arts, sports, waterfront, and adventure — it doesn’t compete with them.

❤

Reinforces camp values

Community, courage, responsibility, and spirit — through teamwork and real-world projects.

🪶

Zero added footprint

No housing, meals, or staff lodging for an instructor. Runs on equipment in one room.

⭐

A story for families

A distinctive, future-facing offering few overnight camps can match.

🛡

Delivered by your own team

Already on-site, already trusted through the transportation role.

How it’s run & assessed

Run like a real course — and assessed like one

It’s a real program, not just an activity: campers submit their work to one portal, and every piece is evaluated with specific, encouraging feedback.

📚
Managed deliveryLive instruction every week plus a full curriculum and counselor run sheets — nothing for the camp to build or prep.
☁
One submission portalCampers submit each week’s work to a single class portal (Google Classroom, or Seesaw for the youngest) — no scattered files or email clutter.
✅
Real evaluation & feedbackEvery camper’s work is scored on a simple, encouraging rubric and gets specific written feedback — growth and effort, not pass/fail.
📝
Quizzes & assignmentsA graded weekly assignment at every level — the thing they make — plus light knowledge-check quizzes for the older courses.

Families and directors see real progress they can point to — a finished, evaluated body of work, not just a fun hour.

A head start that counts

Demand for green skills is outpacing supply — and most students never combine entrepreneurship with sustainability until college, if ever. Starting now is a real edge.

Simple options for Summer Camps

Each age group is its own 4-week course, priced on its own. The camp provides the room, screen, and devices.

  • Meets as its own elective
  • Full curriculum & materials

  • One session each
  • Best value for the camp

Each level meets separately, with its own campers and objectives. A camp can run one level or all four — the same proven four-week arc, tuned to each age group.

What’s included & what it’s worth

Everything included in the fee

One flat fee covers a complete, professionally-designed and delivered course — there’s nothing for the camp to build, staff, or manage.

Design & delivery

  • ✓ Full course design — curriculum, weekly plans & all materials
  • ✓ ~140 hours of one-time design across the four levels
  • ✓ Live, remote instruction every week for four weeks
  • ✓ All camper worksheets & project materials
  • ✓ Counselor run sheets — a zero-prep script for in-room staff

Evaluation & support

  • ✓ A submission portal, set up & managed
  • ✓ Evaluation & written feedback for every camper
  • ✓ Graded weekly assignments (plus quizzes for older levels)
  • ✓ A shareable portfolio of each camper’s work — for college apps, job interviews & social media
  • ✓ A camper pitch showcase to close the session
  • ✓ Progress records the camp can share with families
  • ✓ Pre-season setup & ongoing support throughout

Behind every course run: about 26 hours of instructor time — live teaching, weekly prep, evaluating each camper’s work, and the showcase.

Real value — a fraction of the cost

The same skills — entrepreneurship, problem-solving, sustainability — cost far more to learn anywhere else.

Corporate training

A single professionally-facilitated workshop runs ~$5,000–$20,000 — for one day. Companies spend roughly $874 per employee a year.

A college course

Per student: one 3-credit course costs ~$1,000 (public) to ~$4,500 (private). A full degree in this field can run $40K–$160K+.

This program

One flat fee the camp pays — it covers every camper in the elective, not per child: $5,000 for a 4-week age-level course, or ~$15,000 for all four levels.

At a typical elective size, that’s roughly $200–$300 per camper for the entire four-week course.

A camper who takes all four levels across four summers builds college-ready skills and a portfolio — a head start that can place out of intro college work and save real tuition later.

Getting started

Next steps

Five simple steps from interest to the first block.

1
Review & share. Pass this to your program team.
2
Pick your levels. One course or all four — choose a starting age group.
3
Set the dates. Slot the weekly block into a session this summer.
4
Confirm the room. Devices, screen, internet, and one counselor.
5
We run a tech check. A short remote test before the first block, so day one runs smoothly.

Let’s bring green-tech entrepreneurship to your camp!

Happy to walk through any of this whenever it’s convenient. Thank you.
