I lived in Madison for a year, and still have very fond memories of "Smokey's"...a great steak joint. I highly recommend it if it is still open. Awesome steaks and hash browns!

In the town center by the capital building there is a fantastic French restaurant called L'Etoille (hope I spelled that right) The chef owner is extremely innovative and uses farmstead cheeses and other fresh farm ingredients from her area.. I've eaten there every time I've had occasion to visit Madison and was always very pleased. Lynne D. Edelson The Specialty Cheese Group, Ltd.

There's good sushi at "wasabi", although I can't remember where it's located. State st., i think.
