About 15 miles southeast of Madison, in a little town called Cambridge, there is a wonderful place called "The Claymarket Cafe." Food ranges from sandwiches (my favorite: grilled vegetables (eggplant, zucchini, mushrooms, red bell peppers) with asiago cheese and ailioi) to dinners (Shrimp with leeks and red pepper sauce!) Lunch offerings include lunch portions of dinners. Side ceasar salads, roasted red potatoes...fresh whole grain bread. GREAT desserts (although I'm usually too stuffed) Served on clay plates. Saturday tends to be crowded...but it is well worth the wait ANYTIME! Across the street from Rowe Pottery Works. Nice shops. I think I need to make a trip soon! Minor quibble - I think Bev's on East Wash by East High is the best greasy spoon for breakfast or lunch. Too bad they have limited hours though.
