Since Seattle is quite a "food town", I'd need a little more info on your preferences to really help. Right now my favorites are as
 follows:

Marco's in the Regrade neighborhood, which is an eclectic eatery, casual and lively, with really good food. They do an Ahi Tuna
over Soba Noodles and veggies with a Wasabi sauce - the whole thing really works.

Swingside Cafe in Freemont. small, sort of Italian with great pastas and wonderful hearty stew-type meals - they do a wonderful rabbit
dish, a Moroccan lamb and a very good Venison. Menu changes with one of these types each day.

Sostanza in Madison Valley serves 2 appitizers (or soup or salad) with your entree. We had a pasta with rabbit that was out of this
world and an excellent sea scallop dish. The starters were also very good.

In the Market, Chez Shea and Place Pigale have always been favorites, partly for the atmosphere but also for the really good food.

Hope this helps. Give me more idea of your likes and I'll give you more opinions if you want them.

: All of Mary's recommendations are well worth trying, and furthermore:

: Flying Fish in Belltown, on 1st Avenue
: Campagne, nestled in a fine courtyard in the Pike Place Market district
: Etta's Seafood, also near Pike Place Market
: Dahlia Lounge, up on 4th Avenue, downtown
: Kaspar's, not far from Seattle Center in lower Queen Anne

: and for good examples of Chinese food in Seattle:
: Judy Fu's Snappy Dragon, up on Roosevelt Ave. N.E. (great smoked duck!)
: Shanghai Garden, in the International District (Chinatown)

: and outside of Seattle, east of town:
: The Herb Garden, in Carnation - good luck getting a table!

These are all restaurants we frequent, and love. The only one I don't see
mentioned is 'Lampria'. Oh, and also the new 'Nishino' for wonderful Japanese
 food.
