Vegetarian Restaurant in Seattle

Bamboo Gardens is a vegetarian chinese restaurant on Roy street
in Seattle (near the Seattle Center). Everything on the menu is
vegan (contains no meat, eggs or dairy products). The menu is
extensive, and includes "meat" dishes; all the meat is simulated
with tofu, gluten and other ingredients.

In my opinion, the food is excellent. I have been a vegetarian
for 15 years, and this is the first restaurant I've ever eaten in
where I can order anything on the menu, without worrying about
"hidden" ingredients like chicken broth or lard. The restaurant
is very clean, and usually quiet when we go (early for dinner,
around 4 or 5 pm). The staff is attentive, and has suggested
dishes that are not on the menu when we were indecisive but could
desribe what we wanted. Their prices are reasonable, ($5.95 to
$9.95 for an entree, dinner for the two of us usually comes to
around $23 with a tip). There is free parking.

Unfortunately, it's not as busy as the owners might like. Twice
while we've been there, people have come in and left when told
that everything on the menu was vegetarian. Once the customers
were almost abusive; apparently the restaurant switched to their
all-vegetarian menu a year ago, and the last time these people
ate there was before the change. They were *not* happy.

If you're a vegetarian, and you'd like to see this kind of place
prosper in Seattle, please try it. If you can pick up a PCC
newsletter (or you're a member and get it in the mail) there's
usually a 10% off coupon inside.

If you're not a vegetarian, please try it anyway! I'd hate to see
 this place disappear.
