That Thai noodle joint up on Broadway (near Charlie's) was doing a land
office business. They were the only Thai place open anywhere we could
find. Unfortunately, their food was so uniformly mediocre we would have
 been better off in Chinatown.

I had a plate of Swimming Rama, chicken with spinach and peanut sauce.
The spinach was completely tasteless, the chicken was bland to say the
least, and the peanut sauce was slathered and glopped on top of
everything like that horrible "gravy" the gave you with high school
meatloaf. By contrast, the seafood soup was spiked with so much lemon
you could hardly taste anything else. And there were slices of what
appeared to be leeks in it; the stuff was so woody it was mpossible to
 chew.

My girlfriend had some kind of veggie thing, which actually had a fairly
good sauce over it. But her comment kind of summed up the dish: "I like
the peas." Mind you, these were not snow pea pods; they were --I dunno--
 frozen peas?

Y'know, the people running the place were very busy and very nice. But
hey, come on...get somebody in the kitchen with a little moxie and some
 taste buds.

P.S. The Coins was open, alright, but the wait was 2.5 hours!
