At 1956 1st. Av. South (of the King Dome) there is a restaurant I have enjoyed several times--once with a group of some 10 friends. This is the Kolbeh. The cuisine is Persian (Iranian) with an emphasis on the usual middle eastern items. Of course, there is a regional slant to the items. Here it is the unusual rice dishes. Rice with barberries and saffron (baghali polo) is one example. The people I have gone with have enjoyed the large meatball (Koofdeh), shirazi salad, and eggplant (kashk-o-bademjan) appetizers. There are a large number of items (21) of interest ot both carnivores and herbivors. The host has offered insights into the choices, and always a warm welcome. While earlier visits benefited from a lack of a liquor license (no incentive to overspend on liquid refreshment), recent additions include beer and wine. Given the quality of the meals, service, and unusual items, it seems odd that seattle.eats hasn't included it in a post. Do any Seattle.Eaters venture south of the dome? Or has this spot been politely ignored? Any other experiences out there with the Kolbeh?
