In the downtown Renton Area:
Royal Orchid - Thai.
Hong's Garden - Chinese
Armondo's - Northern Italian
Jubilante - Really cool modern food.
Cedar River Smokehouse - BBQ
All of these are good.
Jubilante is more a an event in itself.
It was opened by some high end restauranteurs from Seattle who wanted a
lower profile place to experiment with cuisine.
Very interesting food and I have never been disapointed with the food
or the price.
Royal Orchid is my default Thia place.
Really good curries and soups.
Hong's Garden is very classy chinese, lots of food, good prices.
Armondo's is good heavy northern italian stuff, like cream sauces and
pastas.
Chicken Fetuccini that can make you want to hibernate til spring.
Lovely stuff but heavy cream sauces always make me sleepy.
Cedar River Smokehouse does really good ribs.Seattle, WA

Jubilante has been sold. I haven't been there since the sale, but I've heard discouraging things. However, that may have just been a transition thing. For pub food, the Dog And Pony Alehouse is only a few blocks away from the show. Easy walking distance. 4th and Park. The fish and chips are quite good. Another Italian place in town is Gene's Restaurante. It was originally owned by Gene Sens (who later was the original owner of Jubilante). I haven't been there for a couple years, but I used to like it better than Armandos. Lebonese food can be found at Omar Al Khyam, on Sunset. It's been a Renton staple for a long time. -Mike
