Recommendations for German Restaurant
Reiner's on First Hill. Someone wrote: >>Someone wrote: >>> >>> Anyone have a recommendation for a German Restaurant in the Greater Seattle area? >>> >> >>For good german restaurants, it's worth taking the drive up to >>Leavenworth over Steven's Pass. >> >>B >> >>> Ernest Cassirer

Others will mention the Portland area (a very-much enlarged definition of "Greater" Seattle), like Edelweiss in Vancouver, or the Rhinelander and Gustav's and the Widmer Gasthaus in Portland. Others will also mention Szmania's and Reiner's, in Seattle; not that they're terribly "German", just that they often have German items on the menu - and Szmania's does a really good schnitzel, too. The bottom line is that there seems to be a scarcity of German restaurants in Seattle worth recommending, though. If you want to get really "great" about it, though, there's a place in San Francisco called Suppenkueche that is really excellent, possibly one of the best German restaurants on the West Coast.

There's the place in Kenmore on Bothell Way, near Teo's Mia Roma. I can't recall the name and have not personally dined there. I know many who have however and have heard good if not great feedback. It can't be too bad, it's been there about 20+ years. Wayne > B > > > Ernest Cassirer
