Also dunno about the Aegean, downtown on 1st Ave. The Aegean is gone. We were in the restaurant that's in its place the other night. GREAT piano... The menu was okay. Pretty unadventurous. A kind of mish-mosh of Mediterranean foods. We ordered the Saganaki (why, yes, we ARE vulgar types who like showy displays of fire at the table... but there WAS no fire... and the cheese, though tasty, was barely hot). We also had their mushroom soup, which was YUM. My partner had the pork tenderloin in onion marmalade which was delightful. I had the seabass in cumin/onion sauce. Also quite good. NOT overcooked. We were late for Rickie Lee Jones so we didn't try any sweets. Will we go back? Maybe. The piano player was really great. Played a whole set of Tom Waits for us. :) Happy Happy Oh - I don't remember what the place is called now. Seriously, we didn't even realize it wasn't the Aegean until we got our menus (which don't have the name on them). We felt committed by that time... Daniel C.
