good Indian restaurant in Bellevue

I hestitate to post this, because I'm not really interested in getting
blasted. I had serious thoughts about only sending this post privately.
My opinion about Shamiana seems to differ from everyone who's posted
here. This is only MY opinion, folks. You don't have to agree with me,
 okay?

I ate at Shamiana because of numerous recommendations from this
newsgroup. I was HIGHLY disappointed. I now have two "benchmark" Indian
dishes. Whenever I try a new Indian restaurant I order Chicken Tikka, and
 my partner orders Vegetable Korma.

Both dishes were bland at Shamiana. My chicken was a overcooked and
stringy (there's no excuse for that when you're cooking in a tandoor!).
There wasn't a good assortment of vegetables in the Vegetable Korma.
Again, both dishes lacked enough seasoning and spice. I'm not talking
"hot" here, I'm simply talking flavor. There was little flavor.

Our service was marginal, at best. It took a server 20-minutes to take
our order. We had difficulty getting water for our table.

Shamiana's decor is certainly nicer than any Indian restaurant I've ever
been to. I'll give it that.

I'll personally give Shamiana one more try, but at this point I can't
recommend it. I'm sure every other post will be a different opinion
 though.

 Good luck.

Not when you have Golkonda and Mogul Palace to choose from.

I would have to vote for Shamiana or Raga. I have tried both Golkonda,
and more recently the Mogul Palace and was quite unsatisfied. To be fair,
I have only tried Mogul for lunch and found the food to be very dull, and
the service extremely cold. Are they any better for dinner?

I'm with Jennifer and somebody - I found Shamiana to be mediocre. We went
over one Friday night looking for an evening out. Fortunately had a
coupon for two-fer, so the disappointment was muted by our
cheapness...but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
