I would like to add Taqueria Guyamas by the Alaska Junction and the Sunfish (the calamari) on Alki Ave.

Good Grub in West Seattle?
The Phoenicia can do really wonderful things. I've heard they have their off nights. But I've never been there for one of them. The owner, a man of enormous charisma and theatricality, is worth the price of admission. The Osso Bucco was splendid. Our friend's little pizza was exceptional. The antipasti were excellent. The barolo suggested by the owner was perfect. You come when you can, and leave when you must. The show is continuous. Good-night - Robertson Davies From The Cunning Man

A second on that from a fan who has enjoyed Hussein Khazal's food and presentation for years, since his places on Calif. SW, the Hansen Baking Co. site near the Center, and his present place on Alki. The current location has perhaps half the seating of his last, but twice the kitchen and that's the way he, and we, like it. A recommendation: go with plenty of time (and not a little funds) and simply let Hussein have his way. (Especially if you like lamb.) Clifford R. Wind

In addition to those places already mentioned, I'd like to add: Jak's (across from the Admiral Theater; GREAT steaks and other grilled stuff) Boca (along Alki waterfront; Caribbean and South American inspired food) The Cat's Eye Cafe (on Fauntleroy at the corner of Othello; great place for lunch after hiking around Lincoln Park) and not really in West Seattle but worth the 15 minute drive... Bai Tong Thai (near Sea-Tac Airport). Relaena

Near the corner of California and Alaska. Best indian restaurant I know of. Moghul Palace in Belleue is a close second though. :) Georgie Cafe. I don't know the address, it's a bit south of your area I think. Good Mediterranean food. Cookbook Cafe. Further south still, near White Center. Nice place for omelettes, pancackes, etc in the morning.
To the best of my knowledge no restaurants in Seattle serve grubs. I have had some excellent grub in Southeast Asia. I particularly like the bamboo grubs that one can find while cutting bamboo shoots. But for good food in West Seattle try Pegasus Pizza. Beni
