You would think... I've eaten at Canlis a few times now (my boyfriend's mother and sister love the place), and I have to say I'm glad I didn't pay for my meal any of the times I've been there. It was good, but the atmosphere is stifling, and I think there are quite a few places out there that are just as good, but without the pretentious stuff that old-guard places like Canlis have. Just my .02... Helen On Thu, 6 Nov 1997, Paul D. wrote: > Ten of us ate there last night and spent $1400 on wine. Canlis
Well al of this about Canlis doesn't surprise me. I was in there about two weeks ago to have a business dinner. I was in a suit, but the person I was was with had jeans on, but was very neat and his clothes were expensive. He had just flown in and didn't have time to change. You would have though we were the worst scum in the world. I had reservations, but was forced to wait with the restaurant half full. They had to set a table up for us as close to the bus station and kitchen doors as possible. To top that off the service was so poor that you would have though we didn't exist. Fortunately I had some serious business to discuss and it really wasn't a big deal...I left an appropriate tip and left. I never intend to return. Matt Chan
