Tom Tom SUCKS!

I FINALLY was able to get a table at Tom Tom in Adams Morgan (after being told at my last three attempts that the wait would be at least 30 minutes) and was quite disappointed with the food.

Despite the hype, Tom Tom offers small portions at inflated prices. I got the Angel Hair's pasta with Pistou sauce. The amount of pasta was small enough to starve a gerbil. However, I did not come close to finishing it since the pesto in the sauce was the worst I've ever tasted. My friends had similar complaints about their food. We all were disappointed with the size of the portions in relation to the price. The one positive thing I can say about Tom Tom is that the service was good.

Tom Tom will nicely fit the needs of the college and tourist crowd that is overrunning Adams Morgan. If overpriced, contrived hipness is what you want, wait 30 minutes for a table at Tom Tom. However, my advice to dc diners is STAY AWAY. You can find better food at many other places, even within Adams Morgan.

Good Advice. TOM TOM is "trendy tapas" resturant. If you want a good "trendy tapas" resturant, try Jaleo. The food and sangria are better.

The best in place in Adams Morgan are La Fourchette, Cities, Perrys.

Well, I agree about Tom Tom and Jaleo (I love Jaleo). But your best places in Adams Morgan don't quite jibe with my faves. Cities disappoints me for some reason -- its menu tends to be filled with mediocre renditions of last year's trendy dishes. Decent attempts, but never quite there. And you left out The Grill from Ipanema, the best Brasilian place in town with an atmosphere straight out of Rio. Not to mention Meskerem (Ethiopian) and Bukara (West African).

On a related topic, has anyone else notice the decline of Adams Morgan into Georgetownishness? These days, I generally prefer either P St./DuPont (Pizza Paradiso, Pesce, Sakana) or U St (mostly for bars or brunch).
