The wife & I visited Teaism, on R Street in Dupont Circle (Washington, DC, for those of you playing along at home.) Excellent, excellent, excellent. Order pan-Asian foods at a counter (Japanese, Thai, Indian cuisines at least partially represented, and quite well) along with (and here's the key) your choice of maybe 6 black, 4 or 5 green, maybe that many oolong, or even a white tea, for $1.75-$4.00 for a two-cup pot. More teas for sale in 2 oz. packages, from $2.50-$25.00. (all prices estimated - I didn't take notes.) They take their tea quite seriously, and do a fine job with it, as well as the entrees and the desserts (including a wonderful ginger ice cream, and a very nice rice pudding.) I put away a pot of their Darjeeling and a pot of their Guangdong (is that right? counter-person recommended it, and it was quite nice.) Anyway, four thumbs up (from me AND my non-tea-drinking wife). (note that they carry no soft drinks - only teas, juices, chai, and lassi.) Andrew Boyko [email removed]

Teaism - a restaurant
Teaism *is* very good. I recommend it highly. One problem is that it looks a little like a museum from the outside. But go on in. You'll enjoy the food. Mike
