Bertolini's Authentic Trattoria is a relatively fancy Italian restaurant chain. The one I went to was located in White Flint Mall in Rockville, Maryland. They specialize in hand-tossed personal-sized pizzas along with the expected pasta dishes. The way the waitress (the waitress took great effort to explain everything to us) described the dishes to us, it sounded like the restaurant prides itself in getting much of its ingredients imported directly from Italy. There is even a wine-shaped bottle of imported spring water (from Italy of course) on each table. Entree prices range from $8 to $16 and they offer a wide range of wines. You get a complimentary basket of some very hard fresh-baked italian bread. I got a pizza but wasn't impressed with the standard toppings they offerred, so the waitress allowed me to go to the pizza counter and choose my own toppings (pepperoni, chicken, spinach, and tomatoes in my case). The pizza was very good because of the fresh thin crust. For dessert, I got the Banana Veneziana which was basically an Italian version of a banana split (replace the strawberry ice cream with strawberry sorbetto and add a few Italian crackers). This is a nice place to go if you want Italian fare that is a step up in class from the typical pizza shops, but you pay for the atmosphere. Their flyer says they also have restaurants in Atlanta, Indianapolis, Irvine, King of Prussia, Las Vegas, and Washington DC (Market Square).
