The Pasha Cafe in Arlington is the only Egyptian restaurant in the D.C. area. They have a long list of appetizers, and you can order mezze, which is assorted appetizers, for dinner. If you like Middle Eastern food you might recognize some of the dishes, but there are a couple that are unique to Egypt. Many if not most of the dishes have been slightly modified from their pure Egyptian form to accommodate U.S. tastes, or to sound familiar to Americans who are more accustomed to having Lebanese or other Middle Eastern cuisines. The hummos is particularly good, and the Om Ali for dessert is very good, though modified from the traditional. It's in a small shopping center at the corner of Lee Highway and Pollard. You might have seen it written up a few Fridays ago in the Weekend section of the Post where they reviewed restaurants that serve mezze. Pasha Cafe
Pasha Cafe is a terrific little restaurant. The grape leaves and baba ghanoush are the best I have had. The restaurant is family-owned so the staff is very friendly. ---------- Thank you Susan Jung

Going out Lee Highway, North Pollard is the street right before Military on the right. I've been to Pasha's 15 or 20 times (I go to the Yoga Studio a lot), and I can attest to the high quality of the food. Occasionally the service is a tiny bit slow. john
