I recently had the opportunity to have a late dinner at Miso-So in Bethesda. The recently opened restaurant specializes in Yakitori (Japanese grilled skewers). They also list several special saki choices that I didn't try but will on my next visit. The yakitori tend to be about $3.50 each. Most are two skewers but it depends on exactly which ones you get. We were there for a late (light) dinner and split about 7 or 8 between the two of us. I'd guess you'd normally want to order twice that number for a full dinner. Started with the miso soup which is very flavorful and one of the best I've had. Of the yakitori we had chicken meatballs, chicken with vegetables, beef, asparagus, shrimp and probably one or two more I'm forgetting. The chicken meatballs were a standout favorite. They also have a pork variation of these that I'm looking forward to trying next time. The wait staff was very nice and efficient though some seemed to have a somewhat limited command of English. Overall a very pleasant experience. We will be back. For those interested Miso-So is at the corner of Norfolk and Cordell across from Cesco in what used to be Ivy's Cafe and Cal-Asia before that.
