>Has anyone been to The Inn at Little Washington lately? How was it?

Watch out for the prices in October. I visited 3-4 years ago, and happened
upon a price list for October. The room rates go up exponentially, although
I'm not sure about dinner prices. I'm about to find that out, as I'm going to
make a reservation for dinner if not this month then next.

No such problem at L'Auberge Chez Francois, and now that the cooler weather has
arrived, they (I was told) may be bringing back their chocolate molten dessert
souffle. Flows like lava (I guess that's what the name is supposed to
suggest) when you cut into it, it's a darker chocolate than their regular
chocolate souffle, and it's served with homemade espresso ice cream. It's
 wonderful!!

Enjoy!

<< Where is ACF and would you describe more detail? >>

ACF is located in Great Falls, VA on Springvale Rd. From the Beltway on either
Route 193 (Georgetown Pike) going West or Route 7 going West, when you reach
Springvale Rd., make a right. Follow all the way down til it almost turns
into a dirt road. Restaurant on your left.

ACF has been in its present location about 20 years, before that in downtown
DC. Wonderful food, presentation, atmosphere. In season, they use fresh
herbs, tomatoes, etc. from their garden and from the surrounding contryside.
A great place for dinner anytime. It's known as one of Washington's favorite
dinner places. Is reminiscent of a French country inn.

<< I was there three weeks ago. It was very good, of course. But I am partial
to the atmosphere at L'ACF. For just dinner, I like L'ACF's proximity and I
feel much more relaxed there than I do at Little Washington. I find the food
at the two places to be in the same league. >>

Funny you should say that. My husband feels the same way. I've known others
to say there's quite a difference in the food, but at the price of IALW, not
enough difference for me for most occasions. Dinner excluding wine, tax, and
tip, for one, is now up to $108 according to other recent postings here, on
Saturday nights. At ACF, dinner for two might come to around $150, including
everything (price of wine may vary that).
