-- Any Thai restaurant can make it hot, but generally, I base my Thai food on how good it tastes. Here are a few that I've found can make it really hot, (usually on your 2nd visit through...) if they believe you can really stand it. 1) Sala Thai (Dupont Circle) - their yum talay can be really explosive. I had this last week and my mouth was on fire through the rest of the meal. 2) Thai Kingdom (21st & K NW)- once they get to know you, they can turn up the heat. Their scallops volcano and their soft shell crab is very hot. 3) The Thai Room (Nebraska & Connecticut NW)- still my fave Thai place. Their food is generally hot, but if you convince them you mean it, it feels like Hell! Any of the dished I've tried can be made radically hot. Just a few to whet the heat meter. How can you stand Dave's Insanity Sauce? Granted, it is very very hot, but the taste is horrible. Worse, it obscures the flavor of the food. Try Pure Hell or Jamaica Hellfire sauces (available throught the marvelous Mo' Hotta Mo' Betta co) for good tasting hot sauces that better complement the flavor of food.
