There's a great Turkish restaurant in Van Dorn Plaza:

Istanbul Cafe
265 S. Van Dorn Plaza
Alexandria, VA 22304
(703) 461-1801

It's elegant, with fine tablecloths, etc., and the foold is excellent. They have the best baklava I've ever tasted. Not expensive, either.

They have a lunch special for about $8 that's really fine. They're not open for lunch on Monday, though.

By the way, there's a pretty good Indian restaurant in that shopping center: Kabab Masala. Chesapeake Bagel Bakery, too.

I spend a lot of lunches there.

It's in the plaza on Van Dorn Street across from Oakwood Apts and BJ's Wholesale. From 395, take the Duke Street exit East, make your first right before the car dealer (sorry, can't remember the street). Then your first left (Commerce Street? the new CompUSA will be on the right) and the plaza will be a block down on your right.
