Good Restaurants near Van Ness?

Cafe di Mamma (I've forgiven them the name) has the best pizza I've eaten in the Washington area. This is not a statement I make lightly. It's at 4483 Connecticut, about two blocks north of the Van Ness Metro stop.

Otherwise, it's been my experience that the pickings are numerous but not especially good out that way.

Which little Indonesian place?  Ivy's, which is Thai-Indonesian, has slipped but is still decent.  However, Melati, a few doors down, is Malay-Indonesian, only a few months old, and TERRIFIC.  Some of the best food in my neighborhood, and they even deliver.  I've switched my primary allegiance from Ivy's to Melati.
