The Food Factory, in College Park, is pretty good.

There's a very good place on Wilson a couple of blocks the DC side of Glebe. Coming from DC, it's on the right hand side of the street in a block of run-down little establishments.

You may be thinking of Fairfax Ave (where the Ballston Metro Stop is) There is another branch of The Food Factory (the entrance is behind the stores on Fairfax) Wilson Blvd Parallels Fairfax there and they cross further down towards Clarendon.

Or Kebab Bazaar, on Wilson, opposite Clarendon metro.

There are several locations of Moby Dick now, I believe. I tried one a few years ago in Georgetown, a previous message mentioned on in McLean, and I think someone at work was talking about one in Bethesda or up Winsconsin Ave.

I also like Caravan, on 18th St. around S or T -- between Dupont Circle and Adams Morgan. I don't know if the kebabs are wood/charcoal cooked, but the lamb and Cornish Game Hen ones in particular are good. They serve Basmati rice, and if you like stew-type Persian food, they have an all-you-want buffet that's a very good deal.

I just found an Afghan ka-bob place in the K-Mart Plaza on Eldon Rd. in Herndon. So far, this is the best I've found (better than the Food Factory, which is saying a lot). They have a spinach side dish that's truly wonderful (the chick peas ain't chopped liver, either :-)). Inexplicably, they don't serve coffee -- just soft drinks.
