This is not a microbreweries stronghold, and we do not have sports bars in great numbers either. If you're going to be in the suburbs, rather than the city, during your stay, send me an e-mail response with more particulars. --Janet [email removed]

For microbrews: Capital City Brewing Company, right around Metro Center at 12th and I Streets, N.W. (also has big screen tvs for sports and some great chili) Brickskeller , 22d and P Streets, N.W. ( something like 10,000 different types of beer; most not on tap, however) Bardo Rodeo, Wilson Blvd. in Arlington, VA (just across the line from DC; 15 microbrews on tap and a number of different bottles; also great munchies; big PLUS --- there's a non-smoking section of the bar!!!) Union Street Tap Room in Old Town Alexandria, VA (again not in the DC limits but they have great beers - both bottle and draft - and even better food.) Probably my favorite restaurants in the city are the following: Roxanne's (really good southwestern influenced food) Straits of Malaysia (greatMalaysian, like all the Southeastern Asian countries rolled into one amazing menu) (both on 18th in Adams Morgan, a great eclectic little neighborhood in N.W.) Au Pied d'Cochon (French bistro; cheap late night eats, best clams casino in the city) (Wisconsin Avenue in Georgetown) Afterwords Cafe (Attached to Kramerbooks in Dupont Circle on Connecticut Avenue, great desserts and salads) Carmela Kitty's (Cajun; on 18th and R Streets, N.W.) Hope these help. Have a great time here in town! Amy
There is a microbrewery: Capitol l Brewing Company, downtown on New York Avenue and 12th or 13th Streets. My picks as best restaurants: Skewers at 17th and P for excellent Mediterranean; Hunan Dynasty on 3rd and Pennsylvania for Chines;TomTom's in Adams Morgan 18th and Columbia Road, Jaleo for Spanish Tapas in a trendy setting at 7th and E and for elegant dining at a decent price: 701 at 7th and Pennsylvania. Sports Bars: Champions in Georgetown, right off of Wisconsin Ave at M St., through the alley
