It's a French cafeteria (there's two words one doesn't often see together!). I had dinner there tonight (10/12/95) and it was once again excellent. They're open from about 7 AM on. Outstanding quiches, salads put together while you watch in line, soups of the first order (tomato basil and French onion every day plus one variable one). A pretty complete bakery attached with croissants, napoleons, tarts, several breads, etc. There is a second La Madeleine somewhere in the northern Va. suburbs, too, but I'm unsure of which one. --Janet Wintermute
