I have heard good things about both Tung Bor in Wheaton Plaza and Good Fortune on University Blvd, though I have not tried either. Dynasty on Veirs Mill used to be the premier dim sum in the area. I thought it was going to close a year or more ago when the Metro came in. What happened? Is it still going strong? Has anyone tried it since? Also, Tung Bor magically appeared in downtown Bethesda recently (one block west of Ricky's Rice Bowl). Has anyone tried it yet? Leif Neve

Tung Bor, in Wheaton or Silver Spring. Better dim sum, though, at Fortune, just northwest of Bailey's Crossroads on Virginia Route 7. Tung Bor fills up fast when it opens, but Fortune tends to be /fully/ seated within about 10 minutes of the time they open. Go early (or late) to either one. China Garden, in Rosslyn, is a more pacific experience. The other two use the "choose from the carts that roll by," but China Garden (1901 North Moore St., one floor up from ground level in the RCA Building) switches between pick from the carts and choose-from-the-menu. I prefer the latter, but the Fortune dim sum is the best I've ever had (including NYC Chinatown).

They nominally open at 11:00 but we have been able to get seated before that time; by 11:30 you will certainly be standing in line for some time. >just northwest of Bailey's Crossroads on Virginia Route 7.
