I haven't seen many places in Chinatown that have Dan Dan noodles. Oodles Noodles in DuPont/Farragut (19th at L) has a fairly mild version with shredded chicken. My favorites are around AU (and deliver!) - Friendship Hunan (Wisconsin at Fessenden) sounds like it is just what you are looking for. Noodles and sauce. Little China Cafe's (MacArthur) version has bean sprouts tossed in and a little spicier sauce on top. Chen's Gourmet (also on MacArthur) has a tasty version with sauce and veggies on the side.
