Consider:

1) The Dancing Crab, Wisconsin Avenue in Tenleytown. I've only been there once; I'd say it's a pretty decent place. Definitely the appropriately crummy atmosphere. Upstairs from it you'll find one of the only blue-collar bars in Ward Three, the Malt Stop.

2) Chesapeake Crab House, Wilson Boulevard just east of Ballston. This is definitely the silliest-looking restaurant I've seen here; the patio is done up to look like the bow of a ship (the place must have gotten lost on the way to the Jersey Shore). However, when I had dinner there back in July, the service was more than a little pokey. As it's also a Vietnamese restaurant, if you bring anybody who doesn't like crabs, they'll still have options.

3) The Quarterdeck, at 12th and Fort Myer Dr. (well, I think) in Arlington. I've yet to go there and feel like a real idiot for not having gotten around to it, since more than a few friends have recommended it over the previous two places. It's been there for, like, forever, so they must be doing something right.
