I highly recommend this place -- Cafe Bethesda. It's on Wilson Lane in Bethesda. It's a small (~ 10 tables), intimate place with a small menu (maybe 8 entrees, 5-6 appetizers, etc.) and absolutely fabulous food. I don't quite know how to describe the food, but as an example, I had seared medallion of beef in an ancho chili sauce with black beans and carrots. Everything was delectable. Another entree that sounded good but that I didn't try was a mixed pasta in a lobster sauce. Apart from the food, the service is really exceptional. The servers are very friendly, polite, unobtrusive, and altogether you have a really good feeling about this place when you leave. It's on the expensive side as restaurants go -- our meal with appetizers, entrees, ($25) bottle of wine, coffee, dessert and tip came to $100. (Ok, so I overtipped, but I was in a good mood :-)) Still, for a special occasion (it was our wedding anniversary, and the first time we'd gone out without the baby) it's perfect. Reservations are recommended, as the place is so small. Susan.

Ate there last night and had the above--very delicious. My main dish was the grilled tuna with vegetables--also very delicious. I second all the comments about this restaurant. We each had an appetizer, entree and bottle of wine and with tip the bill came to $70. > > Apart from the food, the service is really exceptional.
