: Morton's of Chicago in Georgetown is the best of a rather small : universe of steak houses in the DC area, in my opinion. I : believe the Zagat survey is in agreement. For a carnivorous : alternate, try the prime rib at The Prime Rib (2020 K ST NW).

: There's another Morton's in Tyson's Corner (Northern Va suburb : of Washington) that's just as good as the Georgetown site, but : you'd have to rent a car. Ruth's Chris, The Palm, and Sam & : Harry's also offer credible steaks -- they are definitely real : steakhouses -- but they rank slightly below Mortons in quality : of the meat.

The Palm may be the quintessential D.C. steak experience. The kind of place where Jesse Helms _and_ Ted Kennedy would feel good sitting down together. I'm a big Morton's fan, but I think the Palm offers a better D.C. experience.
