Cafe Berlin on Capitol Hill
Old Europe (Upper Northwest)
Wurzburg Haus (Md, but I have not been there, so others will have to comment on it.) There's also a good German place in Reston /Herndon (Don't know the name, but I'll get it.) Alpenhaus

My opinion is that Cafe Berlin is the best of the lot. But all of these are very good.

Try Old Europe in Georgetown (near corner of Wisconsin and Mass. Avenues). They got great game recipes, but are a bit pricey. I developed an experimental home page for them, where you can get a sampling of their menu (and also a picture of the interior). The site is at: http://www.cais.com/webweave/oeurope.htm

Guten Appetit!

Been to Wurzburg many times. We've loved every dish, although I cannot comment on the authenticity. They serve a basket (or 2) of a variety of fresh breads, which could almost be a meal itself.

On several occassions there has been a musician on stage playing German Oompah music on an accordion.

They usually have a wait during peek dinner hours. And I believe they are closed on sundays.

Wurzburg is in Gaithersburg, in the Red Mill(?) shopping center at the corners of Muncaster Mill and Red Mill rd (I'm guessing on that :-.

It's at the corner of Muncaster Mill and Redland Road; I think the shopping center is the Redland Shopping Center.

I've also enjoyed the food there, but only a few times. My parents are more experienced with their offerings; they've traveled to Germany many times and enjoy that cuisine, and they really like Wurzburg. As for authenticity, my understanding is that Wurzburg is owned and operated by a German family (but don't quote me on that).
