Pretty good. A little pricey for my tastes, but the afternoon buffet is
a pretty good deal for around $8. If only their bread was a little better, I could stop going up to Rockville for the India Grill.

It's on Route 123 in Vienna, in the same mini-mall as Joe Theismann's, and
across the street from the Giant. It faces 123.

Yes, Aarathi's buffet is nice. As far as I know, it's the only buffet in the area which includes tandoori chicken as a regular feature. Appetizers run from $1 to $4.95; tandoori specialties run $9 to $11.95 and are served with rice; Other meals run in the $9 to $12 range except for vegitarian stuff which is between $6 and $8.

If you like bread and are looking in the NoVa area, check out the Food Factory in Ballston (across from the metro station). They have zero ambiance but their food is first rate. Their tandoori roti is excellent. The Khaybar used to be on Willson Blvd but close due to back taxes I heard; their bread (nan) was even better than Food Factory's. There are also other Indian buffets in the Arlington area, notably the Bombay Pallace on Willson and another (I can't recall the name) in an older strip mall at Glebe and Pershing. But the Aarathi is the best food among the restaurants offering a buffet. The Food Factory probably has the best food overall (though they have a more restricted menu than Aarathi).

Enjoy!

Folks in my office, including myself, are big fans of Kashmir Palace in the Wintergreen shopping center in Rockville. They have a lunch buffet for $5.95 that includes great soup, usually 2 meat and 2 veggie dishes, BBQ chicken, rice, salad, and very good bread. I'm not a connoisseur of Indian food but I think this place is worth trying.

Could you give me directions/food style for the India Grill?

I am used to Indian Resturants in England (Sothern Indian and pretty hot). Aarathi isn't bad but it is expensive and there is minimal attmosphere. There is an excellent Indian in Dallas, Texas opposite EDS but that's a long way to go for a Madras!

Thanks,
Ed.

It's on Rockville Pike in the Capitol Something-or-other strip mall, not far north from CompUSA on the left (coming from CompUSA). There's a Greek place next door, and a big eyeglasses shop a few doors down. It's across the street from the Holiday Inn Crowne Plaza.

I would say the food is not as fancy as Aarathi, but for some reason I still
like it better. It's not all that hot, though. I've had much hotter stuff at Haandi in Falls Church. But I think the bread beats 'em hands down.

I will have to try Arathi, but we also like the Cafe Taj in Mclean. It has a more expensive buffet, but It always has Tandori chicken, butter chicken, bread and 3-4 other choices. It is small, nice atmosphere, and good food. (Not to mention 15 minutes closer that Vienna.) I think there (their) buffet is about $10.
