I would recommend the Trellis in Williamsburg. My wife and I had an
excellent meal there last December. It is of the "New American" style but seems to have avoided too much cutesy type stuff. In particular, if they are serving their own venison sausage, get it--it was fantastic.

The various inns in Colonial Williamsburg are ok for food and are
great for having a good time. Make your reservation early in the day if you want to get in for dinner.

For Sunday brunch, the Williamsburg Inn (or is it the Lodge? The bigger one) has a really good all you can eat brunch. The best part -- hot, freshly made doughnuts made right before your eyes with this really cool doughnut making machine.

Don't know the price or if reservations are needed, so call ahead first to ask those questions and verify that you're calling the place w/ the doughnut machine. Yum!!!
