Well, it depends what kind of food you want, and it depends whether you mean up to $50 or well below. There are a lot of good restaurants in town.

Memory and Company has more finesse than other places I've eaten in town. It has a fixed price menu, about $30, which will get up close to $50 with wine, tax, service.

Brasa, Blue Ridge Brewery, Bluebird, Maharaja, and Rococo's are all excellent.

(Message to original poster: I'm right here in Cville, like you; send me a message if you want more opinions, I have many! Including warnings about places I consider mediocre or worse.)

best restaurant......Charlottesville has many fine restaurants....you can spend any amount you want.....let me suggest a couple of blue collar places which you might enjoy....if you just want a filling meal and the atmosphere is not bad either try these......the HOO'S DEN ON EMMETT STREET ...BEST COLE SLAW IN TOWN ...bar none....($5.00 sandwiches, ff, slaw etc...) #2 try HENRY'S RESTAURANT ON 5th street extended....in the willoughby shopping center across from hardees....either eat off the menue or try a blue plate special...good food, good service, reasonably priced.....then if you want to drive a little....try the 29 north truck stop at ruckersville,,,beer drinking crowd on one side,,,,,blue plate special on the other.....good food, reasonably priced....these are just a few of the good restaurants where you can get to see and meet the real local natives.......enjoy...
