I just returned from a wonderful vacation in Park City, but had a terrible restaurant experience. Chimayo, formerly the Barking Frog, is the name and being mean is their game! I called for a reservation at 1:00 one afternoon. My party of 7 wanted to eat at 8:00. The person taking the reservation said that would be fine. We arrived at 7:55 and the hostess said it would be a few minutes. After about 10 minutes and no drink someone in the party asked how much longer. The hostess said that they had given our table away. I guess I can understand why since we were 5 minutes early - shame on us!! Well, after 15 more minutes we saw 2 parties with drinks and menus. I guess we were the invisible 7! We decided to leave and all that the bitchy hostess said was "well, our sister restaurant had a kitchen fire and that is why we are so busy". Oh how comforting!! I called the manager the next day. She did not happen to be there the night I was and she was very nice. A little too late though. Chimayo was highly recommended, but I left with a bad taste in my mouth and I didn't even eat! (snip) What a shame, the Barking Frog was one of my favorites when I was there 2 years ago. As long as we're on the subject, does anyone have any suggestions for good restaurants in the Park City area? We are going there for a week to celebrate my in-laws' 40th wedding anniversary and want to take them out to dinner. My husband and I wanted to go to Stein Eriksen's, but the price is too steep for his sisters. So... any suggestions for a nice place for eight people (we'll leave the children at home, so it can be a "grown-up" place)?
