The best of the three was the "Taste of India", which has opened at some point during the last year. It's located on King's Road (the road that runs along the front) and is almost opposite the West Pier. It had some unusual dishes on the menu, including a number of fish dishes (and I don't mean prawns). I experimented a little in my choice of dishes. I had baigan borha for my start, which was described on the menu as (IIRC) aubergine in gram flour. It was essentially a sort of aubergine fritter. I enjoyed it, but I suspect that the casing was supposed to be crisp in texture, whereas it was actually rather soggy. For my main course, I had muli chicken. This was pieces of chicken in a sauce coloured a vibrant red. It had a slightly vinegarish flavour and was very good. With it I had pulao rice and something called a mixed green bhaji, which incorporated sliced green beans, pieces of green peppers, peas, and even some broccoli and cucumber! Good poppadums and pickles. All in all, a very enjoyable meal but, in common with some other Brighton restaurants, they add a 10% service charge. (To their disadvantage in my case, as had it been left to my discretion I'd have probably tipped closer to 15%.)
