Places to go in Cornwall?

Well if you're in Padstow there's the 400 restaurants owned by Rick Stein. The Bistro is excellent for lunch; good food from a strictly limited menu, very friendly, especially good with young children (they provided a high-chair for us).

There's always Stein's place in Padstow. I also recall some years back being impressed by the untemptingly moniquered Mr Bistro in Mevagissey - very fresh seafood. I also recently saw a place in Pentewan Village (Over the summer). I don't know the name, but it was in an old village school by the looks of things, and the menu looked rather intrigueing. A visit there will also put you on the track for the fantastic Lost Gardens of Heligan (Though I suspect that by now they have most definitely been found.) Pentewan is on the main road between St Austell and Mevagissey...

It's good to see that the envy of superiority hasn't died in the UK. What's wrong with rich people, whether bastards or not, from Hampstead.

Rick and Jill Stein's restaurant really is exceptional, but there are other good restaurants in Cornwall. All of them are listed in The Trencherman's Guide to the best restaurants in the South West, which can be seen on the West Country Tourist Board web site, http://www.wctb.co.uk
