Well, although it was me who said the New World was good, I've subsequently heard that it has rather gone downhill. The recommendations I've had have been for the Bayswater area. Poons above Whiteleys, and the Royal China. I'll be trying one at least over MY trip to London over Christmas. My brother (who first introduced us to the New World) has been moved to try another Dim Sum place, in the Leicester Square area, but I don't remember what the name was.

There is a couple on the corner of Wardour St. & Gerrard St. I think they are called the Chinatown & London Chinatown. They are almost next door to each other. I have had good Dim Sum in both of them this year. Almost opposite is the Kowloon Bakery with it's delicious "Char Sui Chan Bau" & "egg tarts" Ideal if you are short of time. Pip pip

Yes i know them both & they're not too bad. If i have to entertain people in central London or eat in ChinaTown, the latter is the one i usually go to mainly for dinner. Jen used to be very good but a change of chef & it's gone downhill. You use to see many Chinese take-away/rests. buying their roast duck from them, not anymore though!

Haven't tried the DimSum there/didn't know they had DimSum there as it's kitchen is more well known for evening dinning. DimSum chefs are like Pastry chefs, they wake up around 3am & start work & ready to serve from 6am onwards but over here it's more like 6-7am so they can get their DimSum ready for lunch.

& one of the few places that does deep fried dough/YaoCharKwai/crullers. Eat them with congee or rissotto.
