We are in London frequently (I am an ex-patriate 'Brit') and the restaurants we like best are Rules in Maiden Lane,a the back of the Strand, near Trafalgar Square, especially at lunchtime. Pricey but if you like REALLY good British food, like game, fish, and wonderful 'puddings' this is the place to go. Our other 'find' in January of this year was the Bombay Brasserie, near Gloucester Road tube station, excellent Indian food and a very attractive restaurant.
