Sheesh Mahal's ok, never struck me as anything particularly special.

I'd try Hansa's on North St (vegetarian Gujarati food) or Shabab on Eastgate. Shabab's one of the best Indian restaurants I've visited.

Alternatively, get over to Bradford where there's a wide range from the basic to the posh!

There's a few very good places in York too - only 25 minutes away by train!

The best of the Shababs was in Huddersfield, I always thought, but it is now closed following a fire. The last time I went to the Leeds on it was OK but not great. I would head for Bradford, as it is only a short trip and the choice there is so good. I like the Kashmir, cheap, reliable and a short walk up from the Alhambra. Kathleen

Can't beat a Kashmir Mix Special and a jug of mango lassi. It's not an eatery known for being subtle, but you'll never leave feeling hungry.

Thanks for all the suggestions....looks like its Bradford, although I will give Shabab a try too... ..by the way, if anyone finds themselves in the Kings Lynn area (where I spend my weekdays) I can highly recommend The India Gate, top food even though they do try to rush you out the door as soon as they can.

Cheers,
Jamez

The wife and I always go to the Tripti when having a curry in Leeds, the food is very good and quite cheap, it does seem like going back to the 70's with the decor though.
