The proprietor is a top chef and highly regarded by the locals. The Mansion House is regarded as having the best dining room in the area and has a reputation for top quality cuisine (I am definitely going to pay them a visit). The Bournemouth directory you refer to doesn't, for some reason, list the top Chinese restaurant in town: "The Ocean Palace" near the BIC (I have eaten there many times). This restaurant has the same chef who worked at the "Kew Rendezvous" (this was the top Pekingese style cusine, in my opinion, in London. I have also heard excellent reports about Sunday lunch at Gilbey's in Bournemouth (the local restaurant guides give it top marks).
