Try the Treehouse at lunch. It is gaining popularity and the lunch specials are reasonable and quite good. I won't compare it to Basil's, since I haven't been there, but it doesn't conform to the mold of all the italian chain restaurants either.

Have been to Treehouse three times now and have found the food, portions and prices to be very good. We have found the "non-traditional" Italian dishes to be better than the traditional. If you like crawfish, the Crawfish Michaelangelo is a must. Tons of crawfish in a nice cream sauce over your choice of pasta.

The atmosphere is nice, espcially if the weather is conducive to sitting outside. Always easy to get a seat, even on weekends. The owner has been at the restaurant each time I've been there and has circulated amond the tables. He even went so far as to replace a plate of pasta on which the sauce was not as we had experienced it in the past, hassle free and graciously.
