: Good places to take out of town visitors for brunch? : Fonda San Miguel is expensive and crowded...

crowded in spite of the price, yes. I wished it was cheaper, too,
but I take my revenge at the dessert table... <grin>

btw, SF doesn't serve "brunch" but a buffet.

for a reasonable brunch, consider Calame's Canyonside Dining out on
620 near Hway 71. I haven't been out there for a while but I seem
to remember that it had changed since I reviewed it here in January
(check Dejanews or ask me for a copy) in that (a) there was an omelette
station -- and I really like freshly prepared omelettes (b) there
weren't as many breads, rolls, cakes, cookies and things. My guess
was that they couldn't afford to keep the baker...

talking of on-demand omelettes, what's the name of that restaurant
out on Lake Austin Blvd across from the boat ramp just upstream
from Miller Dam on Lake Austin? That used to be a favorite of mine
for Sunday brunch several years ago... I seem to remember a brunch
buffet price of $6 or so... <sigh>

Not in the bargain basement category, but for a most satisying brunch with many choices and elegant surroundings, you might want to consider Green Pastures.

Ninfa's is an option if you want Mex. $10 a head, $2 bloody marys, screwdrivers...

Chez Fred is long gone. Fortunately, there's a somewhat similar experience at Chez Zee, near 2222 and Mopac.
