My fave on the river is still Stetson's; if you go there, get a window table. Also try Schilo's (SHE-lo's) on Commerce near the river. It's an old German deli and great fun. David
San Antonio, TX
San Antonio, TX looking for wonderful Resturants
I RECOMMEND LUNA NOTTE AN ITALIAN RESTARUANT IN ALAMO HEIGHTS. THEY HAVE A NEW CHEF AND A NEW MANAGER AND THE PLACE IS GREAT. GREAT WINE LIST WITH CONTEMPORARY ITALIAN CUISINE.
Warning - I had a very unpleasant experience last night at Little Rhein Steakhouse restaurant on San Antonio's River Walk. I had a party of 10, the bill was over $350. It was over one hour fifteen minutes from the time our order was placed to the time I finally complained to the manager and our food was served. When the food arrived it was cold. The manager neither apologized nor offered a reduction in the bill or a complimentary wine, etc. The prices on the menu were outragious, costing around $25 and up for an entre. The attitude is there is no need for good service or reasonable pricing as with their location they will do just fine. I, for one, will never return to this establishment again (and probably for that matter, the River Walk...)

For my money, you don't go to SA without doing Mexican Food. The BEST is at La Margaritas in Market Square. Prices are moderate. I suggest the "deluxe" platter that gives you a little bit of everything. Get the margaritas. This is the best Mexican food I have ever eaten and I don't expect it to be topped until I get back to SA eat there again.
