To be very truthfully honest with you, even though I've frequently visited the New Braunfels area for many years now, I really don't know much (if anything) about the Huisache Cafe.

OBTW, do you folks like Mexican food? If so, then you gotta try Mamacita's Mexican Restaurant & Cantina, located in the New Braunfels Marketplatz on Bus. Loop 35; they've got some of the best Beef Fajitas I've ever eaten, and the avacado green (guacamole) sauce that they serve with the complimentary baskets of tortilla chips is truly like Heaven on Earth -- it makes me hungry just even thinking about it!! (In fact, I would buy several bottles of that stuff if I could!!). Nonetheless, Mamacita's one of those places that you simply can't miss!! (Believe me, it's certainly on my list of favorite restaurants in New Braunfels!!!)

Normally, I'd also reccommend the GristMill in Gruene (right next to Gruene Hall), but once New Braunfels' Summer Tourism Season gets under way (which is generally right after Easter), the place is extrememly crowded on weekends (as the GristMill is VERY popular with both tourists & locals alike); in fact, you can expect a 1 1/2 to 2 hour wait for a table on weekends -- it's that popular!!!

Anyway, I hope that this info. helps!!

The easiest approach to learning about the Huisache Cafe in New Braunfels would be to see their WEB site at:

 huisache.com

I have never had anything there that wasn't quite good. As ou will see on their menu, the prices are reasonable.

I live in NB and I can vouch for Huisache. I've never had anything there that I didn't enjoy! They've expanded over the past few months-- seating had been fairly limited.

The Gristmill is good too-- they, also, have expanded and now have a "river room" which is very nice. But, it is true that it's very popular and you could be in for a wait. (The spinich quesadillas are awesome!)

However, I just can't agree with the poster who heralded Mamacita's. Living this close to San Antonio and REAL Mexican food, it's just hard for me to like Mamacita's. We also have several "mom and pop" places in town that I would prefer: Marina's, El Nopolito, and, especially for breakfast, Hanna's Kitchen. Incredible!!!

Hope you enjoy your visit!!

As you will see, their cuisine is interesting, well thought out and priced reasonably. Never had anything there I found to be less than excellent.
