"Nice" as in "fancy place"? Not exactly Lubbock's strong suit. But workable.

It's been 3 years since I've been to Lubbock, but hopefully this is somewhat current:

Gardski's on Broadway is high-end american food (chicken dishes, steaks, etc). Pretty decent, nice dining room.

Lala's is a decent upper-end Tex-Mex place.

Hub City brewery is pretty nice, bordering on casual.

On the other end of the spectrum (casual), I recommend Wiley's BBQ for some good mesquite BBQ. County Line for some fancy BBQ.

I travel through Lubbock quite often. There are some decent restaurants for the money. I would suggest the following:
1. Orlando's - Italian
2. Chez Suzette - French
3. 50 Yard Line-steaks
4. Gardzki's- steaks

While you are in Lubbock, you might want to stop by Pedro's Tamale Factory and have several dozen sent to your home.
