I agree. I've been to the one in Lewisville and it was OK, but I prefer Nuevo Leon or Coquitas or Ojeda's. There are several locations of each and they are local chains as opposed to mammoth national/international generic chains. Also, Blue Mesa Grill is excellent and there are a few of those around as well.

The last time I went to Blue Mesa Grill, I ordered guacomole and they made it at the table with fresh ingredients which I was allowed to choose from. I requested very little cilantro as that is not a favorite flavor of mine. The lime juice was squeezed fresh from the lime in front of me and the avocado was peeled at the table as well. The best guacomole I've ever had. I could have made a meal of just that with the sweet potato chips and nothing else, but the chicken empenada(sp?) was delicious.

If you go to Coquitas, be sure to get the soft corn tortillas. They are melt in your mouth tasty. The Tampiqueno is very good, too.

I don't remember Mis Casuelas being mentioned on dfw.eats; it is another worthy local choice. When I went there last week, I had some puerca en salsa tomatilla that was the tastiest Mexican dish I've had in a while.

True, also check our Luna de Noche as well. And if you want real mexican, try the many taquerias. La Paloma is a good choice, don't let the "fast food" look fool you.

As far as cheeses are concerned. Any of the mexican markets should have all the queso's you need. Check out Fiesta, Carnival Food Stores, Danal's or Ole Foods in Plano. Or if you want more upscale; Central Market.... If any of those don't have what you need; it just can't be found in town!
