thanks for all the great advice. my roomate and I spent the weekend in san antonio and checked out several of the places recommended. thought Id add my opinions: La Fogata: absolutely worth going for the ambience alone. huge menu and servings; delicious food. Rio Rio: sat one the upstairs balcony to avoid the riverwalk terrorists. it worked! again, huge servings and delicious food. between these two Id say this new jersey-born naive has had the best mexican food of her life. we split an appetizer and had so much food leftover that we ate it for a light dinner the next night. the pitcher of margaritas may have been the cause of this... Schilo's: I understand what a german deli is now. its definitely a place for people who like their meat. Id call this a good lunch place. one note is that the drinks we had at la fogata and rio rio were so weak I felt sorry for myself. they tasted great, though. thanks again, sara
