Do you care how much it costs? If not, I recommend: Cafe Pacific (seafood) 526-1170 The Mansion on Turtle Creek (new American/Texas cuisine) 526-2121 Baby Routh (new American) 871-2345 You should expect to pay $20/person minimum at any of these three. If you want "Texas stuff" that's not too expensive: Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse II (in the West End) 744-1610 Trail Dust Steakhouse, Dallas (off I-35) 357-3862 " " " , Denton (off 380) 263-7554 (this one is the best but it's about a 40 mile drive north of Dallas. Good C/W music on Fri/Sat nights.) For decent Mexican Food, Tias restaurants are generally good. There's one on Spring Valley road off 75 just north of Dallas. If you want home-style TexMex, Plano Tortilla Factory (on 18th st. in Plano) is a good place to check out. Try the cabrito platter (tender young goat). Their tamales (your choice of beef or pork- the pork are the best) cost $5/dozen and are very good. They are one of the few places around here that sell Menudo and Barbecoa. (Don't ask what's in it; just try it.) Momo's has very good Italian. Sorry, I'm out of time. Good luck and have fun. If you try any of these places, I'd like to hear about your experience. Dave [email removed] >Also, what is the weather going to be like? Oh yeah. It probably won't be cold. It could be beautiful but we also have a lot of thunderstorms this time of year. It might rain the whole time you're here. (I hope not). Or it might be awesome (sunny, highs in the 70s) if you're lucky.

Only $20/person at the mansion? Isn't that if you only have coffee? How about Papadeaux for seafood? >If you want "Texas stuff" that's not too expensive: >Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse II (in the West End) 744-1610 Nah, try the one on Inwood--more charisma. Actually, most of the people at UT Southwestern (in the area of both Sonny Bryan's and Anderson's) preferred Anderson's (on Harry Hines across the street from the med. school) for Barbecue). Now Tolbert's at the West End... >Trail Dust Steakhouse, Dallas (off I-35) 357-3862 > " " " , Denton (off 380) 263-7554 (this one is the best but > it's about a 40 mile drive > north of Dallas. Good C/W > music on Fri/Sat nights.) Great for Texas flavor. Big slide and country western dancing make it a hoot! Very noisy, though. If you go, wear a tie (but not one of your favorites). Be prepared to share your table. >For decent Mexican Food, Tias restaurants are generally good. There's one>on Spring Valley road off 75 just north of Dallas. Uncle Julios on Maple is much better (IMO). How about On the Border for the yuppie in you? They make great fajitas. >If you want home-style TexMex, Plano Tortilla Factory (on 18th st. in Plano) >is a good place to check out. Sunday Brunch at Grand Kempinski's (North Dallas Tollway) is terrific. For Chinese food try First Chinese Barbecue (Greenville and Polk in Richardson). Hole in the wall but good food. Vietnamese--East Wind on Elm (I think), downtown. For the impulse buyer, drive down Belt Line in Addison. There're tons-o-food places. My favorite was Atchafalya (sp) River Cafe. It's a chain and certainly not New Orleans, but it's lots of fun. >Sorry, I'm out of time. Good luck and have fun.
